📍 Location: Queens, NY

💵 Pay: $20–$25/hr depending on experience

🕒 Schedule: M–F 7am–4pm, Sat 7am–1pm

📅 Employment Type: Full Time

Royal Waste Services, a Waste Connections Company, is seeking a Maintenance Lead Technician to support repairs and preventative maintenance on forklifts, small loaders, and other equipment used in our recycling facility. This role is ideal for a hands‑on technician with solid mechanical skills who can keep equipment safe, reliable, and operational in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform preventative maintenance (lubrication, filters, adjustments, inspections).
  • Repair and maintain:
    • Forklifts
    • Small payloaders
    • Skid steers
    • Other facility equipment
  • Assist with basic hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company, OSHA, and equipment‑specific safety procedures.
  • Perform proper lockout/tagout during repairs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Complete work orders and maintenance logs accurately.
  • Track parts usage and communication needs to the Maintenance Manager
  • Report recurring issues or equipment concerns promptly

Shop & Field Support

  • Assist with equipment inspections and readiness checks.
  • Support operations by ensuring equipment is available and functioning
  • Coordinate with vendors for parts or specialized repairs when needed

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in equipment or facility maintenance (industrial, warehouse, or waste industry preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read simple schematics or equipment manuals
  • Ability to perform repairs with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment
