Director of IT Business Partner – Engineering

Your Role on Our Team
As the Director IT Business Partner - Engineering, you will drive the technology, data, and AI strategy and transformation roadmap that power Milwaukee Tool's Engineering organization. You will lead a team of IT Business Partnership professionals responsible for connecting Engineering strategy with technology, data, and AI capabilities that streamline and connect our engineering teams from concept through commercialization. You will be a trusted business partner known for building engaged partnerships, shaping meaningful technology transformations, and enabling capabilities that accelerate disruptive product innovation.
You’ll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of IT Business Partnership professionals while building leadership capability, succession plans, and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Serve as a trusted strategic partner to Engineering leadership, building strong relationships and shaping a long-term technology, data, and AI vision that accelerates product innovation.
- Develop and maintain a multi-year Engineering technology strategy and transformation roadmap aligned to business priorities, enterprise architecture, and measurable business outcomes.
- Partner with Engineering leaders to identify, prioritize, and champion technology investments that improve engineering efficiency, product quality, collaboration, and speed to market.
- Translate Engineering business strategies into actionable technology capabilities, partnering across IT to deliver scalable solutions that streamline workflows and enable connected engineering processes.
- Drive business process transformation by identifying opportunities to simplify, standardize, and modernize engineering processes through technology, data, and AI.
- Provide strategic direction for Engineering platforms, including Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), ensuring technology investments support long-term business objectives while partnering with Platform teams responsible for platform ownership and delivery.
- Guide technology portfolio planning, investment prioritization, and governance across the Engineering organization, balancing near-term business needs with long-term strategic outcomes.
- Partner with internal IT teams, business leaders, and external partners to ensure Engineering technology initiatives are effectively planned, governed, and positioned for successful delivery.
The TOOLS you’ll bring with you:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience shaping technology strategy and transformation in complex enterprise environments, with significant experience supporting Engineering, Product Development, PLM, or related functions.
- Proven people leadership experience, including building, developing, and leading high-performing teams in a complex, cross-functional organization.
- Significant experience shaping strategy and transformation around Siemens Teamcenter or an equivalent enterprise PLM platform.
- Strong understanding of Engineering and product development processes, including PLM, engineering data management, CAD/CAE integration, engineering change, and product lifecycle processes.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy into multi-year technology, data, and AI strategies, investment priorities, and transformation roadmaps.
- Proven ability to build trusted partnerships with senior business and technology leaders, influence strategic decisions, and navigate competing priorities across a complex organization.
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for technology, data, AI, and process transformation that create measurable business value.
- Strong strategic thinking and business acumen with the ability to connect technology capabilities to Engineering outcomes, including speed to market, product quality, productivity, and innovation.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, simplify complex problems, and drive alignment across business and technology stakeholders.
- Exceptional executive communication skills with the ability to distill complex concepts into clear, concise, and actionable messages.
Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:
- Experience in the manufacturing industry, ideally supporting product design, mechanical/electrical engineering, or new product development (NPD).
- Experience leading or governing complex technology portfolios and transformation programs spanning multiple business functions, technology platforms, and delivery teams.
- Experience shaping technology strategies that leverage enterprise platforms, custom software, data, and AI to streamline engineering processes and connect teams across the product lifecycle.
- Experience driving business process transformation and organizational change associated with large-scale technology investments.
- Experience working across global or distributed Engineering organizations and navigating the complexity of enterprise-scale technology transformation.
