Physician Advisor, Hospital Medicine

Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) is seeking a Physician Advisor to join our Hospital Medicine team. This is an exciting opportunity for a physician leader who is passionate about clinical excellence, utilization management, care coordination, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to support high-quality, efficient patient care. With two campuses and 714 beds, Staten Island University Hospital is the borough's major teaching hospital and one of the New York metropolitan area's largest. Our 17-acre North campus houses Staten Island's most modern emergency department, a state-of-the-art education center and a medical arts pavilion. Our South campus boasts its own emergency department and offers a range of specialty programs, including geriatric psychiatry, behavioral health care and substance abuse services.

Highlights of the role include:

• Serve as a key liaison between medical staff, case management, utilization review, and hospital leadership

• Provide physician leadership in level of care determinations, medical necessity reviews, denial prevention, and appeals

• Partner with hospitalists, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to promote appropriate resource utilization and regulatory compliance

• Support initiatives that improve throughput, length of stay, documentation integrity, and patient outcomes

• Collaborate with quality, revenue cycle, and care management teams on process improvement strategies
