Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) is seeking a Physician Advisor to join our Hospital Medicine team. This is an exciting opportunity for a physician leader who is passionate about clinical excellence, utilization management, care coordination, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to support high-quality, efficient patient care. With two campuses and 714 beds, Staten Island University Hospital is the borough's major teaching hospital and one of the New York metropolitan area's largest. After 155 years, we continue to earn public and peer recognition for quality care. Our 17-acre North campus houses Staten Island's most modern emergency department, a state-of-the-art education center and a medical arts pavilion. Our South campus boasts its own emergency department and offers a range of specialty programs, including geriatric psychiatry, behavioral health care and substance abuse services.
Highlights of the role include:
Serve as a key liaison between medical staff, case management, utilization review, and hospital leadership
Provide physician leadership in level of care determinations, medical necessity reviews, denial prevention, and appeals
Partner with hospitalists, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to promote appropriate resource utilization and regulatory compliance
Support initiatives that improve throughput, length of stay, documentation integrity, and patient outcomes
Collaborate with quality, revenue cycle, and care management teams on process improvement strategies
