As a Sales Technician, you will serve as a dedicated field presence throughout an assigned Florida territory, developing relationships with municipal water and wastewater treatment plant personnel, documenting installed equipment and site conditions, and identifying new sales opportunities. This is an outside, field-based role designed to expand Moss Kelley’s plant-level presence, strengthen customer relationships, and provide valuable market intelligence to the regional sales team.


What you'll do:

Treatment Plant Coverage & Relationship Building

  • Travel throughout the designated territory to become thoroughly familiar with all municipal water and wastewater treatment plants.
  • Meet with plant staff to collect names, phone numbers, and email addresses; obtain business cards; and identify the Operations Manager and other key contacts.
  • Enter and maintain all pertinent contact information in the designated company systems.
  • Discuss treatment challenges, successes, and equipment preferences with plant staff.
  • Plant Documentation & Scorecarding

    • Walk treatment sites and document currently installed and operating process equipment using the Moss Kelley Scorecard.
    • Photograph key equipment and surrounding areas and file images in the designated folder.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date plant files to support sales planning and opportunity tracking.
    • Opportunity Identification

      • Identify current or planned improvement, expansion, or replacement projects and report opportunities promptly to the Sales Director.
      • Identify Moss Kelley or UFT platform opportunities and communicate findings to the sales leadership team.
      • Focus on process equipment opportunities, including chemical feed pumps, odor control, polymer blending systems, and related equipment.
      • Sales Team Support

        • When directed by the Sales Director, support field technicians dispatched by Moss Kelley manufacturers for diagnostics or equipment repair visits within the territory.
        • Attend pre-bid meetings as assigned.
        • As directed by the Sales Director, support MKI Services Vendor Furnish & Install projects within the territory.
        • Provide end-of-day reporting to the Sales Director and sales team, including plant scorecards, photos, and opportunity notes.
        • Territory Maintenance

          • Work with the Contract Administrator to update treatment plant contact information across the assigned territory on an ongoing basis.
          • Support proactive outreach and coverage goals established by the Sales Director.

What you bring:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, a technical field, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Previous experience in water/wastewater, industrial sales, field service, technical support, or a related industry required.
  • Familiarity with municipal water and wastewater treatment plants or process equipment is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with plant operators, superintendents, and operations managers.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently in a field-based environment.
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude with a willingness to learn water and wastewater treatment processes and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately document field conditions and customer information.
  • Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, laptops, email, Microsoft Office, and basic photo/document management tools.
  • Previous experience with CRM systems is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license, clean MVR, and willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory, including occasional overnight stays of up to 25%.
  • Ability to work effectively with outside sales representatives, manufacturers, customers, contractors, and internal support teams.
