Reimagine What’s Possible

The UHP Technician is responsible for the installation, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of Ultra High Purity (UHP) gas systems and equipment used in the electronics and semiconductor industry. This position requires a strong technical background, sound mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently in a customer-facing environment.

The successful candidate will serve as a field technical resource supporting cryogenic, atmospheric systems, including purifiers, vaporizers, piping systems, control valves, instrumentation, and associated process equipment. The role requires the ability to diagnose equipment issues, develop corrective actions, and safely execute maintenance and repair activities at customer sites.

Working closely with UHP Engineers, project teams, operations personnel, and customers, the technician will support equipment commissioning, reliability improvements, preventive maintenance programs, field service activities, and project execution throughout the assigned region.

Customer Support Expectations:

As a key member of the UHP field support organization, this role may require responding to equipment issues during evenings, weekends, holidays, and unplanned outages. The ability to respond effectively to emergent customer needs, troubleshoot issues under pressure, and restore systems safely and efficiently is essential.

Travel and Physical Requirements:

This position supports customer facilities across the region and requires frequent travel to customer sites, project locations, and company facilities. Travel may include overnight stays and extended periods away from the home office depending on project demands and customer support requirements.

The role requires working in semiconductor manufacturing facilities, industrial gas installations, and outdoor environments under varying weather conditions. Candidates must be capable of:

  • Frequently walking, standing, climbing stairs, and accessing equipment located throughout customer facilities.
  • Lifting, carrying, and moving tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Working from ladders, elevated platforms, and in confined equipment areas as required.
  • Performing maintenance and troubleshooting activities that require bending, kneeling, reaching, and extended periods of physical activity.
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hard hats, hearing protection, respirators, fall-protection equipment, and other site-specific safety gear.
  • Safely operating company vehicles while traveling to customer locations.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with industrial, mechanical, electrical, or process systems.
  • Experience in performing field service, maintenance, commissioning, or repair activities in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and equipment documentation.
  • Familiarity with cryogenic systems, compressed gases, process equipment, instrumentation, or semiconductor support systems is preferred.
  • Strong communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively managing multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety performance.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to represent the company at customer sites.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of UHP gas systems and related equipment.
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs to ensure safe and reliable system operation.
  • Diagnose mechanical, process, instrumentation, and control system issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, equipment manuals, specifications, and technical procedures.
  • Support installation, inspection, and acceptance testing of new equipment and system modifications.
  • Interface directly with customers to resolve technical issues, coordinate service activities, and communicate project status.
  • Develop work scopes, maintenance plans, and field execution strategies.
  • Support root cause investigations, reliability initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation, maintenance records, and inspection reports.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • A High School diploma or GED is required.
  • A trade, technical degree or apprenticeship in a related field is preferred but is not required.
  • Military service will be considered in lieu of a trade or technical degree.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.

Work Environment:

This position offers a high degree of autonomy and responsibility while supporting customers across a broad geographic area. UHP Technicians are among the most visible representatives of the company and frequently serve as the primary technical contact for customers in the field. Success in this role requires technical expertise, sound judgment, professionalism, and a strong commitment to customer service and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate confidence in managing field activities, maintaining customer relationships, and delivering safe, reliable solutions in a fast-paced environment. They will be comfortable working independently, making sound technical decisions, and supporting critical systems that enable the operation of some of the world's most advanced semiconductor manufacturing facilities.
