Position Summary: With safety, customer service, accuracy, efficiency, and logistics cost as a priority, the Logistics Coordinator 1 is responsible to facilitate the transportation planning and document preparation for domestic and international shipping of raw materials and finished goods, effectively ensuring the timely delivery of orders to fulfill customer requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
Transportation & Shipment Coordination
- Coordinate domestic freight movements from planning through delivery, including preparation of all required shipping documentation.
- Partner with freight forwarders and third-party logistics providers to manage international shipments, facilitate customs clearance, and minimize transit delays.
- Track and trace shipments through internal systems and manual follow-up to ensure adherence to delivery commitments and carrier service agreements.
- Build productive relationships with carriers, forwarders, and logistics partners while balancing service performance, capacity, and transportation cost.
- Prepare freight-rate quotations and respond to Commercial team inquiries related to transportation options, costs, and service levels.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure transportation activities comply with internal policies and applicable local, national, and international regulations.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and provide logistics documentation to Finance in support of audits, inquiries, and reconciliation activities.
- Support the compliant movement of hazardous materials, including requirements associated with DOT, IMO, and IATA regulations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related discipline.
- Two or more years of experience in logistics, transportation planning, freight coordination, or a related supply chain role; experience in the chemical industry or a similarly regulated environment is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; SAP experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and perform effectively under time-sensitive conditions.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, sound judgment, and a customer-service mindset.
- Hazardous materials certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of DOT, IMO, and IATA transportation regulations preferred.
