You must be proficient on the computer, self motivated and able to excel in time sensitive situations. The ideal person for this job will be comfortable working in a demanding, fast paced and intense environment at times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedule logistics loads, including backhaul pickups, with third-party carriers and coordinate assignments with company drivers.

  • Utilize Manhattan Associates scheduling software to manage daily transportation schedules and maintain accurate scheduling spreadsheets.

  • Route trucks by matching customer orders with appropriate loads and assigned trucks.

  • Assign drivers to routes and make adjustments as needed while adhering to applicable CBA requirements.

  • Work closely with the Sales and Warehouse Departments to determine delivery feasibility and resolve scheduling or routing challenges.

  • Prepare and maintain various daily transportation and operational reports.

  • Provide occasional PTO coverage for Sunday routing responsibilities.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned


RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: Transportation Supervisor and/or Transportation Manager; Sales and Warehouse Dept. associates; Delivery Drivers, Dispatchers, and department clerks.

External: Customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training: High School Diploma/GED preferred.

Related Experience: A minimum of 4 years in related environment

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must be able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations. Must have computer skills – data entry, general report generation, spreadsheet design, data manipulation, mainframe downloads. Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide). Possess ability to resolve a variety of issues of fairly non-routine nature with some independence. Ability to work scheduled hours and any required overtime.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state or local minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between

$19 - $30
