Senior Counsel Requirements & Qualifications


  • Active admission to the bar in California
  • 10+ years of insurance defense litigation experience
  • Proven expertise in all aspects of litigation and discovery
  • Exceptional legal writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Effective oral advocacy in court and client settings
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and leadership abilities

Senior Counsel Preferred Background & Skills


  • Experience supervising and mentoring associates and paralegals
  • Proficiency using Westlaw for legal research

Senior Counsel Day-to-Day Responsibilities


  • Manage a caseload of 10–20 matters independently
  • Prepare and execute discovery strategies, draft pleadings, and respond to discovery
  • Conduct legal research and analyze key documents for production
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Attend hearings, argue motions, and draft pre-trial/trial documents
  • Prepare and participate in mediation and trial proceedings
  • Provide transparent and proactive communication with clients
  • Supervise and support associates and paralegals in their development
