Full job description

The CA Office Work Study works under the direction of Executive Assistant to support the administrative operations of the Cinematic Arts Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain inventory of department office and breakroom supplies as well as event and promotional materials; stock supplies in proper places for use.
  • Clean small kitchen appliances weekly.
  • Organize storage closets, including an annual inventory and clean-out.
  • Annually inventory movie library.
  • Weekly inspect Cinematic Arts hallway posters and marquees, replacing lightbulbs and changing out posters as directed.
  • Assist with event coordination, preparing materials, signage, decorations, etc. as directed.
  • Occupy the front desk when the Administrative Assistant is unavailable, including answering phones and receiving visitors.
  • Assist Administrative Assistant and Executive Assistant as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current LU student

  • Reliability in completing tasks, fulfilling responsibilities, and fulfilling expected hours of work
  • A friendly demeanor and a helpful spirit
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • The ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Willingness to learn about our program in order to direct questions from visitors and callers.
  • Willingness to learn administrative processes and basic functions of computer applications

Communication and Comprehension

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Competent computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Outlook, Word, internet navigation, and file management.

Problem Solving

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Alternately required to sit or stand to perform work.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Occasionally required to walk and climb stairs to move about the building.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 20 or fewer pounds.

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. Lighting and noise level is similar to a movie theater.

Pay Rate

Starting at $12.77


Student employees are paid at least the current Virginia minimum wage per hour. Pay may vary by position and department based on job responsibilities, required skills, available funding, and market conditions.
