Position summary:

Technical staff position is available in CCUNY. The goal of our lab specifically is to understand cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying formation, function, and regeneration of motor circuits using mice. We use a variety of techniques including molecular biology, mouse genetics, electrophysiology, trans-synaptic assay, optogenetics, and behavioral assays.

Responsibilities

The Research technician will carry out essential research support functions in the laboratory conducting work primarily focused on mouse genetics, molecular biology and tissue analysis, as well as mouse behavior, and cell culture. Some of these functions include:

• Working with transgenic mouse lines and performing mouse surgical procedures.

• Wide range of basic molecular biology experiments (such as PCR, cloning, etc.).

• Preparing tissue for analysis and performing microscopy.

• Performing standard laboratory experimental tests and procedures such as preparing complex chemical solutions and media.

• Maintaining experimental matter, requiring knowledge of laboratory techniques.

• Recording results of experiments according to standard laboratory techniques.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

BA/BS in biological sciences along with experience with basic biological laboratory techniques is required (relevant coursework may count towards work experience).

A background in Neuroscience as well as directly related lab experience will be considered as a plus, but not necessary. Strong communication, demonstrated organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to carry out responsibilities in a collaborative team environment are essential.

Pay Range:

Minimum - Maximum: $50,000-$55,000
