Overview
Element has an opportunity for a Composites Machinist to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Machining position performs a variety of routine and non-routine machining assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.
Salary: $22- $30/hr DOE

Salary: $22- $30/hr DOE
Responsibilities
- Work with composite pre-pregs to cut material kits and prepare for testing
- Perform composite panel fabrication and vacuum bagging
- Mixing of adhesives for bonding or casting operations
- Operate autoclave for curing of composite
- Uses cutting equipment to prepare specimens for testing as dictated in customer specifications
- Designs, sets-up and performs a variety of machining tasks according to customer specifications and requirements
- Requires little supervision and technical input of a Department Manager, Principal Machinist,
- Project Coordinator or Engineer
- Possesses the ability to mentor and train machinists who have less experience through effective communication of machining
- process and technical data
- Ability to transfer technical knowledge of machining procedures/requirements and successfully satisfy and meet customer expectations
- Maintains equipment and schedules preventative maintenance
- Gathers and records dimensions in accordance with quality assurance requirements
- Works with composites materials including carbon fiber, kevlar, fiberglass, resins
- Produces testing's specimens according to drawings and instructions
- Use tables saws, bandsaws, conventional and CNC mills, router table, surface grinder
Skills / Qualifications
- Prefer experience in layup, bonding, machining of composites (2-5 years)
- Handling of Pre-Preg and fabric materials used in c omposites manufacturing
- Packaging and storage of temperature sensitive materials, and record keeping for out-time and shelf life
- Working knowledge of laboratory safety
- HS diploma or GED certificate preferred; College or vocational school coursework welcomed
- Must have earned Associate degree in related testing or science field and/or possess 3-6 years of experience in a machining shop environment
- In-depth understanding of specimen preparation
- May have earned Associate degree mechanical related field
- Depth of understanding related to machining concepts, measuring instruments and dimensional concepts
- Working knowledge of machine shop safety protocol
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus
