Facilities Operations and Events Manager


Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities, the Facilities Operations and Events Manager (Managing Assistant Director 2) is responsible for supporting and managing facilities operations across the University, including events management, vendor coordination, service coordination, building inspections, turnover support, moving services and other operational activities.  The Manager will be directly responsible for overseeing facilities operations as assigned by the Director and/or Assistant Vice President.

 

The Manager supports the Facilities leadership team with managing day-to-day activities; collaborates with the operations team and liaises with the facilities team to ensure conducive process and project coordination; participates in the multitude of planning stages that take place leading up to events and transportation dates; and manages the communication of all necessary updates to the appropriate colleagues and team members. 

 

In addition to events, the Manager serves as an operational resource for the Office of Facilities and Operations by coordinating assigned facilities services and supporting University-wide operational needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: managing elevator service calls, managing pest control scheduling and service needs, coordinating moves and furniture relocation requests, conducting building cleanliness inspections, assisting with Residence Life, Faculty Housing and Guest Housing turnover inspections and meeting with vendors regarding facilities work and service requests.

 

This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. This is an essential employee position. This employee is required to oversee facilities operations as the on-call manager on duty, which requires on-campus presence during weather and/or emergency situations.

 

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree; two years of professional work experience in facilities management, operations management, event management/planning, project management, higher education or related field; and a driver’s license valid in the State of New Jersey is required. Related experience in higher education is highly preferred. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute the required experience on a year-for-year basis. NOTE: This position also requires the ability to perform essential functions that require moderate physical activity including, but not limited to: driving, walking long distances/standing for long durations of time outdoors/indoors, bending and/or stooping, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Candidate must have proficiency in Office 365 and basic computer operations; excellent oral and written communication skills; a strong focus on customer service; and the ability to work a flexible schedule and be the on-call on-site manager.

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Law, the annual salary range for this position is: $78,000 to $90,000.
