Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a Director of HR at our Elyria, OH location.

Job Summary:
The Crane Aerospace & Electronics Fluid Management Solution HR Director provides strategic and operational leadership for the Human Resources function across two facilities, one in Elyria, OH and one in Auburn, CA, ensuring a high‑performing, engaged, and inclusive workforce. This role oversees all core HR disciplines—including labor and employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, training and development, and HR compliance. The HR Director partners closely with senior leadership to shape organizational culture, support business goals, and deliver HR programs and practices that enable employees and leaders to thrive.
Essential Functions:
- Provide leadership and oversight for the Human Resources department, including staffing, workflow management, team development, and performance evaluation across two facilities totaling approximately 400 employees.
- Implement and recommend HR policies, employee relations practices, and employment programs that support business objectives and enhance employee experience.
- For your assigned site(s), lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and ongoing employee development; plan and assign work; conduct performance evaluations; and manage recognition and corrective actions.
- Manage labor relations, administer collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), resolve grievances, and partner with union leadership to maintain smooth operation.
- Conduct thorough and timely investigations into workplace incidents, employee concerns, and policy violations while ensuring legal compliance, confidentiality, and consistency.
- Partner with senior leadership to align HR strategies with organizational goals and support achievement of the Annual Operating Plan.
- Oversee local administration of corporate-defined benefit programs, ensuring effective communication, accurate execution, and high-quality employee support.
- Monitor compensation practices to ensure competitive, equitable pay decisions in alignment with company guidelines and market data.
- Develop and deliver employee communication strategies that enhance understanding, engagement, and alignment with company priorities.
- Ensure full compliance with applicable employment laws, regulations, and recordkeeping requirements.
- Promote a positive culture aligned with company values, fostering engagement, accountability, and employee well-being.
- Drive continuous improvement by enhancing HR processes, leveraging data and analytics, and introducing best practices that improve organizational effectiveness.
- Partnering with the Crane Aerospace & Electronics HR Leadership Team, integrate HR initiatives, programs, and practices into broader business processes to support operational success.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience: 10 years’ progressive experience in Human Resources, demonstrating increasing responsibility with at least 3+ years’ experience as a manager, 3+ years in a Union and experience in manufacturing. Proven capability to lead HR initiatives and influence leadership at an executive level.
- Knowledge: Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures; Current HR policies and practices. Knowledge of local and federal labor laws, collective bargaining, grievance handling, and contract administration.
- Skills/Abilities:
- Strong understanding of the organization’s culture and ability to build trusting relationships with leaders. Experience partnering with senior leadership to drive strategy.
- A track record of delivering results internally.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate and influence in a complex environment

- Education/Certification: BA Degree in applicable field
- Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or Master’s in Human Resources
- HR Certification through an accredited source
- Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
