Job Description:
Overview:
As a key member of a survey crew, the Rodman provides essential support to ensure the successful completion of land surveying projects under the direction of the Party Chief.
Responsibilities:
Clear brush and obstacles to maintain line of sight.
Carry and set up equipment, such as rods, tripods, and prisms, for staking and measurement.
Load and unload survey equipment and supplies for job assignments.
Maintain survey supplies, such as nails, paint, rods, and flags, ensuring the crew is prepared for daily tasks.
Gather supplies, dig for corners, and cut lines.
Search for and correctly identify monuments.
Plumb prisms to ensure accurate measurements.
Measure distances using chains, tape, or other methods.
Clean and maintain survey equipment.
Complete other tasks related to field surveying as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED certification required.
Ability to grasp basic surveying concepts and techniques.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees.
Ability to follow directions from supervisors and work collaboratively with engineering staff and management.
Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions and terrains for extended periods.
Physical ability to lift and carry survey equipment weighing up to 35 lbs. on a regular basis.
Demonstrated dependability, reliability, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
