Position Summary
The Salad Bar Associate is responsible for preparing, stocking, and maintaining the salad bar to ensure a fresh, appealing, and sanitary food presentation for guests. This role supports daily foodservice operations, follows food safety standards, and delivers excellent customer service in alignment with Chartwells’ quality expectations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare, wash, chop, and portion fresh produce and ingredients for the salad bar.
Stock and replenish all salad bar items throughout service hours.
Set up the salad bar with proper signage, utensils, and displays.
Maintain strict adherence to food safety guidelines, temperature logs, and sanitation procedures.
Monitor food quality and remove any items that do not meet Chartwells’ standards.
Keep the salad bar area clean, organized, and visually appealing at all times.
Assist with receiving, rotating, and storing produce and supplies using FIFO.
Provide friendly and helpful customer service to all guests.
Assist with prep for other stations as needed, including light kitchen work.
Break down, clean, and sanitize salad bar equipment at the end of service.
Follow all Chartwells, school, and district policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Previous food service or kitchen experience required.
Knowledge of basic food prep and handling is a plus.
Ability to follow directions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to cleanliness and food safety.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25–40 lbs.
Work Environment
Fast-paced foodservice environment with regular use of knives, slicers, and kitchen equipment.
Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and working refrigerated prep areas.
