Description:

Position Purpose:

• This Diet Clerk Position will be working in Food & Nutrition Services at Mount Carmel Grove City working five 8-hour shifts per week from 11:30am - 8:00pm with rotating weekends and holidays.

In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors, the Diet Clerk performs clerical and administrative duties in support of patients, clinical dietitian and patient meal services. The Diet Clerk functions in the spirit of teamwork, is accountable for communications with the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the organization.

What you will do:

• Exhibits each of the Mount Carmel Service Excellent Behavior Standards holding self and others accountable and role modeling excellence for all to see. For example: demonstrates friendliness, courtesy and effective communication skills. Creates a professional environment and provides first class service.
• Visits all patients as assigned assisting the patient or family member with menu selections.
• Responds to patient needs, requests in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates knowledge of special modified diets using department policies and procedures to assure patient receives the diet ordered.
• Checks patient trays for accuracy during meal service.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent highly preferred. Additional college training in Dietetics or related field preferred. Must know how to read, write and speak English.
• Experience: Previous health care experience or demonstrated knowledge of dietetics and medical terminology preferred.
• Demonstrates priority setting, organizational skills and the ability to remain calm under stressful situations.
• Possesses a high level of professionalism and the ability to establish good rapport with patients, family members, staff and physicians.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts/variable schedules.
