Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Experience:

• 18 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 24 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience with 1 month within the last 12 months.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Georgia license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed.

Additional Details:

Required Credentials: Basic cardiac rhythm (BCR) required; must pass an EKG competency exam.

Preferred Credentials: Nephrology nursing certification preferred.

Special Requests: RTO requests require manager approval.

Unit Details: Orthopedic and trauma population including fractures (femur, tib-fib, humerus, spinal, rib), head trauma/hemorrhage, osteomyelitis, acute and chronic disease, and post-op surgeries. Common comorbidities include diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, and electrolyte imbalances. Required clinical skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, Glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, and titratable HR drips but not BP drips. Also includes IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, post-op monitoring, cardiac monitoring, telemetry interpretation, and renal/fluid-management education. Uses Alaris pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors, VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips, portable vital sign monitors, bladder scanners, portable oxygen systems, external fixators, chest tubes, JP drains, Hemovac drains, PCA pain management, and suction machines. Support includes 2-3 CNAs per shift, unit secretary 7a-11p with house-wide call secretary 11p-7a, charge nurse may have patients, lab collect phlebotomy with nurses drawing from CVLs, PICC team, discharge nurses, resource team, and central telemetry monitoring.

Shift & Scheduling: Weekend rotation: 6 weekend shifts out of 12 on a 6-week schedule. No call. Work one shift of each major holiday: Thanksgiving Day or the day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1.

Floating Requirements: Float to all adult med-surg/telemetry units in house.

14 days maximum time off

1 Manager/Supervisor reference required from within the last 12 months

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 12 months

Certifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

• CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse) or the alternative certification CNN
