SUMMARY: The Hatchery – Chick Delivery Driver is responsible for loading and unloading chicks and deliver them safely to the farms from the Hatchery. The driver is responsible for ensuring chicks are delivered on a timely basis and are correctly placed in the grower’s houses.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Complete truck inspection and fill out inspection sheet prior to leaving on the first load.
- Ensure truck is kept in good conditions, clean and fueled.
- Maintain work records, logs, timesheets, and trip reports.
- Monitor trailer environment to ensure chick comfort.
- Unload birds in such a way to ensure traceability once delivered.
- Follow all local, State and Federal DOT Regulations.
- Follow all Farm and Hatchery Biosecurity Principals.
- Follow Animal Welfare Guidelines and Company Policies.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will not have supervisory responsibility.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Required
- Current valid Class A - CDL license.
- Current valid medical certificate from an examiner on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.
- 2 years of verifiable driving experience with a Representative Vehicle; or 1 year of verifiable driving experience with a Representative Vehicle and a certificate of successful completion from reputable driving school program of at least 40 hours.
- Must meet requirements established by George’s Fleet Safety Program, insurance company requirements and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMSCSR).
- Reading, writing and mathematical comprehension.
- Proficiency in English
