Job Summary
Provides genetic counseling services to individuals and families served by the Prisma Health Oncology Programs including the Multidisciplinary Cancer Centers, Ambulatory Infusion Center, Inpatient Unit(s) and other associated/affiliated cancer services. Identifies families at risk for hereditary cancer, provide education about the complex options regarding genetic testing for hereditary cancer, interpret genetic testing results, facilitate patient decision-making regarding genetic testing, and discuss management of complex hereditary cancer syndromes.Essential Functions

Provides Genetic Counseling consultations for hereditary cancer indications (identifying appropriate candidates for genetic testing following an extensive assessment of personal and family history information, counseling about complex genetic testing options, facilitating genetic testing with national laboratories when elected, communicating results of genetic testing, counseling patients regarding management recommendations for hereditary cancer syndromes when applicable).
Active participant in tumor conferences, offering insight to oncologists and other providers
Supervises genetic counseling graduate students, interns, residents, fellows and others as determined appropriate by Cancer Center Leadership.
Participates in genetic research initiatives as required by Program Leaders.
Supports clinical and research initiatives through local, regional or national presentations, publications and teaching opportunities.
Supports marketing and business development activities including in-service training and development activities including in-service training and development of marketing collateral.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited American Board of Genetic Counseling training program.
Experience - No experience required. Two (2) years oncology genetics counseling preferred

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
Effective 05/01/25 for team members working in South Carolina only: Licensed to practice as a Genetic Counselor in the state of South Carolina within six (6) months of hire.
Prior to 05/01/25: CGC - CERT GENETIC COUNSELOR - CCGC preferred, Board certification as a Genetic Counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling must be obtained within one (1) year of hire.
