ADVANCED ENDOSCOPY GASTROENTEROLOGIST

Dallas VA Medical Center | Dallas, Texas

Practice Advanced Endoscopy. Teach. Lead. Make a Difference for Veterans.

Join a collaborative, exceptionally well-supported Gastroenterology team where your expertise in Advanced Endoscopy is valued, your voice is heard, and your schedule and life outside of medicine are respected. Perform complex, high-impact procedures for Veterans across an entire region while enjoying the clinical support, procedural volume, academic opportunities, and quality of life that make the Dallas VA Medical Center a truly exceptional place to practice.

The Dallas VA Medical Center is seeking an exceptional Gastroenterologist with fellowship training and expertise in Advanced Endoscopy to join one of the nation's largest and most comprehensive VA health care systems.

If you are looking for high procedural volume, complex pathology, an outstanding multidisciplinary team, academic opportunities, and the ability to practice medicine without the pressures of a production-driven private practice , this is an opportunity worth exploring.

WHY DALLAS VA?

As the second-largest VA health care system in the nation , Dallas provides an exceptionally broad and robust GI practice with a large and diverse Veteran population.

This is not a low-volume practice . Our Advanced Endoscopists have the opportunity to perform a substantial number of procedures each week while managing a mix of advanced and general gastroenterology.

Your practice may include:

  • EUS and ERCP

  • Biliary and pancreatic interventions

  • Stenting

  • Pancreatic necrosectomy

  • Large polyp resection

  • Complex therapeutic endoscopy

  • Other advanced endoscopic procedures

  • General GI procedures and consultations

  • Inpatient and outpatient GI care

Your day-to-day practice can offer the clinical variety and procedural complexity that experienced Advanced Endoscopists are looking for , while maintaining a manageable clinic volume compared with many private-sector practices.

A PRACTICE BUILT FOR PATIENT CARE - NOT RVUs

At Dallas VA, you are not practicing under a production or RVU-driven compensation model.

There is no need to constantly chase volume, negotiate with insurance companies, or let productivity metrics dictate your clinical practice.

Instead, you can focus on what matters:

Taking care of Veterans, performing excellent medicine, teaching the next generation, and practicing at the top of your specialty.

OUTSTANDING CLINICAL SUPPORT

Advanced Endoscopy is a team sport - and Dallas VA provides the team you need to succeed.

You will work alongside an exceptional multidisciplinary support structure that includes:

  • Experienced GI nurses and technicians

  • Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners

  • Dedicated nurse case managers

  • Hepatology support

  • Outstanding cancer care coordinators

  • GI subspecialty support

  • Medical residents and fellows

  • ACGME-accredited Gastroenterology/Hepatology fellowship program

The result is a collaborative environment where physicians can concentrate on complex clinical decision-making and procedural care while having an experienced team supporting the patient throughout the continuum of care.

ACADEMICS, TEACHING & RESEARCH

Dallas VA offers a unique opportunity to combine clinical practice with academics and education .

The Gastroenterology/Hepatology fellowship provides ample opportunities to work with fellows, residents, and medical students. Physicians interested in teaching, research, quality improvement, or developing an academic career are encouraged to pursue those interests.

There are also opportunities for collaboration with UT Southwestern Medical Center and other VA medical centers.

Research experience is encouraged, and physicians with interests in areas such as IBD, advanced endoscopy, hepatology, quality improvement, and clinical research will find opportunities to grow professionally.

CALL THAT RESPECTS YOUR LIFE

One of the advantages of joining an established Advanced Endoscopy team is a shared and manageable call structure .

For Advanced Endoscopists, the call rotation is approximately 1 week every 6 weeks , allowing you to maintain a rewarding clinical practice while preserving meaningful time away from work.

PRACTICE MEDICINE. SERVE VETERANS. LIVE WELL.

At the Dallas VA, you can enjoy the advantages of a federal career while practicing in a major metropolitan area.

You will have access to the comprehensive VA/Federal benefits package , which may include:

Federal retirement benefits * Health and dental insurance * Paid time off * Federal holidays * Malpractice protection * Education and professional development opportunities * Potential Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP)

EDRP is subject to eligibility, funding, and program availability.

Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to practice medicine without the constant administrative burden of dealing with insurance companies and private-sector production pressures.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Fellowship training in Advanced Endoscopy

  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Gastroenterology

  • Expertise in advanced endoscopic procedures, including EUS and ERCP

  • Experience with therapeutic and complex endoscopy

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • A commitment to patient-centered care

  • An interest in teaching and working with fellows, residents, and medical students

COME BUILD YOUR NEXT CHAPTER IN DALLAS

If you are an Advanced Endoscopist looking for volume without burnout, complexity without chaos, academics without sacrificing clinical practice, and a team that genuinely supports you , the Dallas VA Medical Center deserves a closer look.

Serve those who served. Practice medicine the way it should be practiced.
