Job Summary

Plans, implements, coordinates, evaluates and communicates the activities of the department and supports the operations of the hospital’s Auxiliary Board and fundraising functions.

Essential Functions

  • Provides leadership by coordinating and integrating services within their department, with other departments and with the hospital’s primary functions.

  • Updates policies and procedures, handbooks, volunteer job descriptions and other documents necessary for effective management of the department.

  • Manages departmental budget including processes to monitor operational and capital costs.

  • Assess and improves the department’s performance by designing operational processes, monitoring performance through data, analyzing the data, implementing sustainable performance improvement, and participating in multi-disciplinary inter-departmental PI activities.

  • Manages information by providing information systems and data management for department operations and performance improvement.

  • Manages the environment (of care) by developing, implementing and monitoring processes to reduce and control environmental hazards and risks, preventing accidents and injuries and maintaining safe conditions for patients, staff, volunteers and visitors.

  • Responsible for the activity, performance and management of team members

  • Manages and supports the activities and projects of the hospital Volunteer Auxiliary Board. Recruits, interviews, trains and places hospital volunteers and supports the activities and projects of the Auxiliary Board.

  • May be required to drive company owned vehicles for the system.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of employees that may include final budget authority, hire/termination/disciplinary authority, performance appraisal responsibility. Job will be considered a member of the management staff with direct reports.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Business management, Behavioral science or related field of study.

  • Experience - Five (5) years of experience in volunteer administration, Experience in healthcare environment preferred.

In Lieu Of

  • Comparable work experience may be substitute for education requirement.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • Currently holding credentials in volunteer administration or in process of earning such credentials.

  • A valid driver’s license Class E

  • An acceptable motor vehicle record, as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart; and proof of auto insurance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Leadership skills

  • Interpersonal skills

  • Word processing and spreadsheet application experience preferred
