Job Description

Shriners Children's Texas is looking to hire a part-time Switchboard Operator / Receptionist to answers the main switchboard for the hospital; directing telephone calls to appropriate department or person as well as to greet visitors, vendors and patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer the hospital switchboard telephone promptly and directs calls to proper party or paging staff

  • Greet visitors and staff courteously with a smile and directs them to proper personnel, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and security regulations

  • Issues visitor passes to authorize persons and gives clear and concise instruction on hospital rules and regulations

  • Announces appropriate overhead pages promptly and accurately

  • Accepts non-monetary donations and assists in moving them to appropriate areas. Makes notes name of donor, time, details of donation as applicable in the Security rounds log book.

  • Accepts monetary donations and delivers sealed envelope to Business Office. Makes notes on name of donor, time and amount donated (if known) in the Security rounds log book.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bi-lingual English / Spanish

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School diploma / GED

  • 2 years receptionist experience


Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
