The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of a global financial services organization with domestic and international operations. This position ensures accurate financial reporting, maintains strong internal controls, supports international accounting activities, and leads a team of accounting professionals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations
- Manage and oversee general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable international accounting requirements.
- Review and analyze balance sheet accounts and income statement variances.
- Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Coordinate accounting activities across domestic and international operations.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
- Establish performance goals and conduct performance evaluations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support employee training and professional development initiatives.
Financial Controls & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to internal control frameworks and corporate accounting policies.
- Coordinate internal and external audit activities and respond to audit requests.
- Assist with the development and implementation of process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Monitor compliance with tax, financial reporting, and regulatory obligations.
International Accounting Support
- Support accounting and reporting requirements for international entities.
- Coordinate intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
- Assist with currency translation and consolidation processes.
- Partner with external advisors and local accounting resources as needed.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Serve as a key finance user for enterprise accounting and business systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and reporting processes.
- Support system upgrades, implementations, and finance technology initiatives.
- Develop and maintain accounting reports and data analysis tools.
Budgeting & Analysis Support
- Assist Finance leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Provide accounting guidance and support to cross-functional business partners.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and management presentations.
