What We Offer:  

The Technical Writer/Analyst – Legal/Finance role offers the opportunity to work with complex corporate actions, tax, legal, and securities content while developing specialized expertise in a highly collaborative environment. You will join a team that supports products relied upon by financial institutions, banks, brokerage firms, investment management organizations, and legal professionals.

What You'll be Doing:

As a Technical Writer/Analyst – Legal/Finance, you will research, analyze, and develop content for Wolters Kluwer's Capital Changes corporate actions product suite. Capital Changes provides comprehensive corporate actions tax content covering daily and historical U.S. and international corporate events, including analysis, commentary, and taxability determinations.

You will conduct in-depth research and analysis of debt and equity securities and corporate actions involving publicly held companies, including mergers, spin-offs, exchange offers, and other complex transactions. You will focus on understanding and communicating the tax and withholding consequences associated with these events.

This is a fast-paced, highly collaborative editorial environment with daily publishing deadlines. Success in this role requires strong research and analytical capabilities, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to produce accurate, clear, and publishable content.

Key Tasks:

  • Research tax issues related to securities and corporate actions.
  • Research and track daily corporate actions involving publicly held companies.
  • Analyze complex corporate filings and related legal and financial documents.
  • Research source documents needed to explain the structure and tax consequences of corporate transactions.
  • Analyze and summarize tax opinions and other guidance provided by legal counsel or companies.
  • Determine and communicate taxability and withholding consequences associated with corporate actions.
  • Develop, write, edit, and publish accurate content and updates for the Capital Changes product suite.
  • Provide research-based responses and support to internal teams and clients when tax opinions or other source materials are not available.
  • Prioritize and manage a large volume of files and research assignments while meeting daily publishing deadlines.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and consistency across published content.
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with clients, including large financial institutions, banks, brokerage firms, attorneys, and other industry professionals.
  • Collaborate with team members through the editorial review process and incorporate feedback and revisions.
  • Stay current on relevant tax, legal, securities, and corporate actions developments to support accurate and timely content.

You're a Great Fit if You Have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in Legal, Accounting, Audit, Compliance, Tax, Finance, or a related field; OR a JD, CPA, or Master's degree in Taxation, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in Legal, Accounting, Audit, Compliance, Tax, Finance, or a related field.
  • Knowledge or relevant coursework in corporate tax, tax accounting, capital changes, corporate filings, cost basis, or related areas.
  • Knowledge and understanding of U.S. federal taxation.
  • A solid understanding of securities and financial markets.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex legal, financial, and corporate documents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise, publishable content.
  • Strong reading comprehension and critical-thinking skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet daily, deadline-driven publishing requirements.
  • The ability to work effectively in a collaborative editorial environment and remain receptive to feedback and revisions.
  • Strong personal initiative and sound judgment, with the ability to independently identify questions, investigate issues, and determine appropriate next steps when source documentation is incomplete.
  • Flexibility, creativity, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation:

$53,700.00 - $91,950.00 USD

 

This role is eligible for Bonus.

Compensation range listed is based on primary location of the position.  Actual base salary offer is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skills, experience and actual hiring location.
