Job Overview:
Primoris Heavy Civil is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Oiler (Lube Technician) to support the maintenance and operation of heavy construction equipment on civil infrastructure projects. The Oiler is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, lubrication services, fluid checks, inspections, and minor repairs on a variety of heavy equipment and fleet vehicles. This position plays a critical role in maximizing equipment uptime, identifying maintenance issues before failures occur, and supporting safe, productive operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience servicing heavy construction equipment and possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat endorsement and current DOT medical card.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform lubrication and preventative maintenance on heavy construction equipment, including but not limited to excavators, dozers, loaders, motor graders, scrapers, rollers, trenchers, forklifts, haul trucks, water trucks, dump trucks, and backhoes.
- Service equipment with fuel, oils, lubricants, coolants, and other fluids as required.
- Inspect equipment daily for leaks, wear, damage, fluid levels, and safety concerns.
- Collect and maintain oil sample records and preventative maintenance documentation.
- Perform filter changes, fluid replacements, greasing, and routine service work according to manufacturer and company standards.
- Identify mechanical issues and communicate repair needs to Equipment Managers, Foremen, and Mechanics.
- Assist with basic mechanical repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
- Operate service and fuel trucks safely in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed, equipment hours, and fluid usage.
- Keep work areas, equipment, and service vehicles clean and organized.
- Support project crews by maintaining positive working relationships and promoting a team-first environment.
- Continually seek opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and support safe operations.
- Comply with all company safety policies, environmental requirements, and equipment maintenance procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years of experience servicing heavy construction equipment in a civil construction, mining, or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of oils, lubricants, filtration systems, and preventative maintenance practices.
- Ability to recognize equipment deficiencies and perform minor mechanical repairs.
- Experience operating and inspecting heavy construction equipment.
- Ability to read and understand equipment service manuals, safety procedures, and maintenance schedules.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel to project locations as required.
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Hazmat Endorsement required.
- Current DOT Medical Card required.
- Clean driving record preferred.
