Duties
  • You will install, align, and operate complex research, prototype, and commercial mechanical systems and equipment.
  • You will fabricate component fixtures, tools, and support fixtures required to support test equipment and models.
  • You will operate, troubleshoot, and diagnose failures in equipment and systems undergoing testing, making repairs as needed.
  • You will serve as the lead mechanic directing other tradesmen in the overhaul and alteration of shipboard machinery systems.
  • You will work from technical drawings, diagrams, and sketches to fabricate, modify, and repair test set-up and equipment.
  • You will disassemble, inspect, repair, overhaul, and modify equipment before, during, and after the completion of testing.
  • You will coordinate with supervisors, work leaders, and engineers to arrange support for the set-up and testing of systems.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
