The Role 

About the Role: Morningstar DBRS is looking for a Data Governance Analyst to help shape how critical credit data is organized, governed, and made ready for analytics, reporting, and AI-enabled products. This role sits within the Data Products Team and partners closely with Product Management, Technology, Regulatory Compliance, Business Development, Data Management, and AI Enablement teams. You will support a strategic effort to centralize key data sets, strengthen governance standards, and work with data owners to capture high-quality metadata. 

Responsibilities 

  • Lead data governance and AI-readiness initiatives, including metadata management, data dictionary maintenance, and data lineage mapping. 

  • Investigate, resolve, and document data issues with stakeholders across the business. 

  • Support regulatory and reporting processes by aligning data requirements with regulatory standards. 

  • Partner with AI Enablement and Product teams to make trusted data assets available to downstream applications and AI agents. 

  • Serve as a key contact for data inconsistencies, data maintenance questions, and issue resolution. 

  • Review data requirements for new initiatives to promote integrity, consistency, and reuse. 

  • Coordinate data validation in current systems, working independently and with cross-functional resources as needed. 

  • Support external data feeds and help resolve client data issues. 

  • Contribute to projects that streamline and improve data processes. 

  • Monitor data accuracy dashboards and sample database queries to identify discrepancies and drive timely resolution. 

 

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Data Science, Management Studies, or a related field. 

  • 4–5 years of relevant financial data experience; fixed income data experience is a plus. 

  • Proficiency with data collection, analysis, and validation tools. 

  • Experience with SQL, preferably MS SQL Server, and data controls or catalog platforms such as DataHub, Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, or similar tools. 

  • Experience working with large data sets and exposure to database management. 

  • Strong communication, collaboration, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. 

  • High attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently. 

  • Curious, motivated team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic. 

Preferred Skills 

  • Experience with Bloomberg and/or Refinitiv Eikon. 

  • Knowledge of fixed income, credit ratings, or capital markets. 

  • Experience with Python. 

  • Familiarity with data governance best practices.

Total Cash Compensation (Base Plus Bonus Target) $59,900 to $87,850
