About the Organization

Now is a great time to join Redhorse Corporation. We are a solution-driven company delivering data insights and technology solutions to customers with missions critical to U.S. national interests. We’re looking for thoughtful, skilled professionals who thrive as trusted partners building technology-agnostic solutions and want to apply their talents supporting customers with difficult and important mission sets.

About the Role

Redhorse transforms how the government uses data and technology. We are seeking a dedicated Senior Enterprise AI Architect to join our team and contribute to the forefront of AI and deep learning within the Department of War (DoW). The DoW recognizes the rapid advancement of AI and its transformative potential across a broad range of the Department’s activities. To maintain technological superiority and address emerging national security challenges, the DoW Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) and its Deputy CDAO for Enterprise AI (DCDAO ENT) is focused on the application of Frontier AI to address critical defense challenges in key categories such as generative AI (Gen AI) with large language models (LLMs). Working closely with the CDAO, you will design, build, and integrate AI/ML solutions focused on autonomous warfare, making a significant impact on national security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Architecture and Roadmapping: Lead the Generative AI, LLM, and Search Architecture Optimization Initiatives for the enterprise. Develop and maintain the CDAO’s technical CONOPS for leveraging government cloud solutions, including Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, and GCP Vertex AI, ensuring strategic alignment with the National Defense Strategy. Oversee strategic LLM Model migrations and deprecations.
  • Platform Integration and Modernization: Serve as the Senior Architect for the instantiation and modernization of major data platforms (e.g., War Data Foundry/Palantir on the War Data Platform) across NIPR, SIPR, and higher classification levels. Direct long-range project planning for the CDAO’s overall IT and enterprise architecture, overseeing major program architectures. Work on Zero Trust transitions, S3 policy resolutions, and Foundry infrastructure platform upgrades.
  • Federated Data and Governance Design: Design and provide technical oversight for joint architecture solutions, such as the Palantir and Databricks Unity Catalog, to create unified, federated catalogs. This includes enabling federated data integration, attribute-based access control (ABAC), governance, and cross-platform workflows to reduce data friction. Support cross-system user guides for joint warfighters.
  • Cross-Platform & Combatant Command (CCMD) Support: Provide architectural leadership and guidance across a diverse ecosystem of systems (Maven Smart Systems, Advana, Qlik, Tableau, PowerBI) to ensure interoperability and support the requirements of critical stakeholders, including the Joint Staff (JS J4), OpLog, and CCMDs (CENTCOM, N4). Oversee establishment of secure network connections to War Data Platform, Databricks Unity Catalog, and SAP S3 ERP systems.
  • Demonstrate highly effective communication skills across all levels of the organization, seamlessly adapting from providing basic project status updates to articulating and explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Autonomously plan all aspects of project performance, taking full responsibility for long-range planning. Utilize industry experience to assess the operational baseline of the organization, working with senior leaders to provide strategic direction and identify IT deficiencies that impact organizational goals.
  • Provide insight, advice, and specific expertise in support of the creation of comprehensive methods for defining current and future strategic milestones, as well as the applicability of industry-standard solutions.
  • Attend meetings (either locally or out-of-area) and leverage strong communication skills to distill complex discussions into clear, actionable meeting summaries and trip reports.
  • Proactively manage and maintain detailed project information, documentation, and performance metrics to ensure continuity and independent tracking of all assigned initiatives.

  • Required Experience/Clearance

  • US citizenship with an active Department of Defense (DoW) Top Secret (TS) security clearance and current access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) (TS/SCI) is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 8+ years of related experience, or a combination of advanced degree/experience.
  • Experience in system development/configuration, integration, and support efforts. Knowledge and execution with DoW systems is highly desired.
