Transportation Safety Manager

(CDL Fleet Operations)

Trulite is seeking a field-based Transportation Manager to lead fleet safety, driver performance, DOT compliance, and load securement across branch operations. This hands-on leadership role supports the safe and efficient transportation of fragile glass and aluminum products by working directly with drivers and operations teams to coach, inspect loads, and ensure safety and compliance before trucks leave the yard.

• Total compensation salary range: $85,000-$90,000/yr. depending on experience.

• Shift Days and Hours: M-F, 6am - 4pm (occasional rotating daytime hours 2-3 times a week, occasional late stay)

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Lead transportation safety and DOT/FMCSA compliance ensuring adherence to all regulatory and company safety standards.
• Manage driver compliance programs, including Driver Qualification Files, Hours of Service (HOS), ELDs, Drug & Alcohol programs, vehicle inspections, and CSA performance.
• Conduct ride-alongs, driver observations, safety audits, and post-accident investigations, providing coaching and corrective actions to improve performance and reduce risk.
• Partner with Operations and Human Resources to promote driver accountability, performance management, and a culture of safety.
• Oversee dispatch readiness by verifying equipment condition, load securement, weight distribution, and driver preparedness, with authority to stop unsafe operations.
• Develop, implement, and enforce glass-specific loading and securement standards while training drivers and warehouse personnel on safe handling and transportation practices.
• Monitor transportation damage trends, safety metrics, telematics, and dash camera data to identify improvement opportunities and reduce claims and preventable incidents.
• Support the recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and development of CDL drivers, helping build a high-performing, safety-focused team.
• Partner with branch leadership and maintenance providers to ensure fleet readiness, equipment compliance, and efficient transportation operations.
• Lead ongoing safety meetings, training initiatives, and transportation incident response to drive continuous improvement across the fleet.

SKILLS YOU BRING:

• Minimum of 5 years of transportation, fleet, or driver performance management experience.
• Strong knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations, with experience managing CDL drivers in a safety-focused, high-accountability environment.
• Proven experience conducting accident investigations, implementing corrective actions, and leading driver coaching, safety training, and compliance programs.
• Experience in flatbed, specialized freight, or the building products industry—including glass or other fragile materials—is highly preferred.
• CDL Class A license strongly preferred.
• Fleet safety certifications (e.g., Smith System, CTP, OSHA) and experience using telematics, dash camera systems, and other fleet technology platforms are preferred.
• Comfortable working in branch, yard, warehouse, and outdoor operational environments.
