Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is seeking a Senior Policy Fellow, Energy & Emerging Technology to lead policy development and thought leadership at the intersection of energy policy, technology policy, artificial intelligence, regulatory reform, and economic growth. In this role, you'll shape public debate, influence policymakers, and develop market-based solutions that remove barriers to innovation and opportunity.
How You Will Contribute
Serve as a leading expert on energy policy, emerging technology policy, artificial intelligence, electricity markets, grid reliability, nuclear energy, data centers, and infrastructure development.
Develop original research, policy papers, testimony, op-eds, and commentary that advance evidence-based reforms and expand energy abundance and technological innovation.
Translate complex technical, economic, and regulatory issues into actionable recommendations for federal and state policymakers, coalition partners, and advocacy teams.
Advise senior leaders on policy strategy, emerging trends, and opportunities to drive federal and state reforms.
Build relationships with lawmakers, industry leaders, academics, coalition partners, and media stakeholders.
Represent AFP media appearances, through legislative testimony, at conferences, and public forums.
Partner with government affairs, grassroots, communications, and state teams to support active policy and legislative campaigns.
Mentor policy staff and contribute to a high-performing, collaborative policy team.
What You Will Bring
Deep expertise in energy policy, technology policy, public policy, regulatory policy, economics, or a closely related field.
Proven success producing rigorous policy analysis that influences decision-makers and public debate.
Exceptional writing, communication, and presentation skills.
Ability to simplify complex energy and technology issues for policymakers, stakeholders, and public audiences.
Strong strategic judgment and the ability to identify opportunities for impactful reform.
Experience managing complex initiatives independently in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborative approach and ability to build credibility with diverse stakeholders.
Commitment to free-market, limited government principles and a believe in the power of innovation and competition to improve people’s lives.
Standout Candidates Will Bring
8+ years of experience in policy, government, research, advocacy, academia, industry, or related sectors.
Advanced degree in Economics, Public Policy, Law, Engineering, Political Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent expertise.
Experience shaping federal or state legislation, regulation, or public policy initiatives.
Established relationships within the energy, technology, or public policy ecosystem.
Published research, testimony, media commentary, or thought leadership in energy or technology policy.
