Expanded Learning Assistant - Aftercare

We are consistently and actively hiring for Expanded Learning Assistant positions.

Reports To: ELOP Program Manager/ Director 

FLSA Classification: Hourly Classified

Full Time/Part Time Status: Part-Time, non-exempt

Regular Framework: Hourly

Pay Range:  Step1, Hourly Framework. Range: $20.60 -$25.11. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Benefits: This position does not qualify for benefits

Summary

The after-school program is an important element of the school day experience. Our Expanded

Learning Assistants play unique roles as mentors, tutors, activity leaders, and sports coaches. In

addition to providing a safe and quiet place for students to study or receive extra tutoring, our

program also offers enrichment opportunities during our regularly school year afterschool

programming.

About High Tech High 

Developed by a coalition of San Diego civic leaders and educators, High Tech High (“HTH”) opened inSeptember 2000 as a small public project-based charter school with plans to serve approximately 450students. HTH has evolved into an integrated network of sixteen charter schools serving approximately6,500 students in grades K-12 across four San Diego County campuses (Point Loma, Clairemont, NorthCounty, and Chula Vista). The HTH organization also includes a comprehensive adult learning environment including a Teacher Credentialing Program and the High Tech High Graduate School of Education, offering professional development opportunities serving national and international educators. 

This position is in-person and on-campus.

Key Responsibilities:

- Supervise school-aged children indoors and outdoors

- Maintain an orderly, safe, and organized environment for the students

- Take attendance to ensure that all students are accounted for

- Plan, develop and run engaging student activities

- Assist students with virtual learning activities and homework assignments

- Understand and implement emergency procedures, including safety protocols

- Perform related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

- Experience working with students

- Ability to work well with school-aged students

- Comfortable leading enrichment activities with students Inform and communicate effectively

- Ability to work with diverse populations

Clearances:

Tuberculosis Clearance and Department of Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance criminal records summary

Working Conditions 

Environment: Indoor and outdoor setting 

Physical Abilities:

Sitting or standing for extended periods of time 

Hearing and speaking to communicate and exchange information 

● Seeing to observe accuracy of reports and documents

● Dexterity of hand and finger to operate office equipment

● Bending at the waist, kneeling , and reaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store files and other items as needed.
