JOB TITLE: Civic Center Technical Crew (Part-Time Stagehand)
JOB CLASS NUMBER: HRL039
PAY GRADE: H01
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
BUSINESS UNIT NAME: Civic Center Operations
REPORTS TO: Civic Center Production Manager
SUPERVISORY WORK: None
PAY: $15.00 per hour
SCHEDULE: Part-time, as needed based on event schedules
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Civic Center Production Manager and Production Staff, the Part-Time Stagehand assists with the setup, production, and breakdown of a wide variety of events. This position also helps maintain a clean, safe, and functional venue before, during, and after events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup and teardown of staging, equipment, and event infrastructure.
- Support the move-in and move-out of theatrical productions, concerts, sporting events, meetings, banquets, exhibitions, and other special events.
- Assist with arena and Coliseum floor conversions for hockey, football, concerts, and other events.
- Install and remove dasher boards, glass, ice, turf, goals, and protective padding as needed for various events.
- Perform minor ice rink maintenance, preparation, and related duties.
- Assist with the setup, operation, and maintenance of professional sound and lighting equipment.
- Help ensure equipment is safe, properly maintained, and in good working condition.
- Assist with building security, cleanliness, and general venue maintenance.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule and Environment
This is an as-needed, part-time position. Work schedules may include split shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight hours. Shifts and hours may vary depending on event schedules and operational needs.
Most work is performed indoors, with some duties taking place outdoors. This position requires frequent lifting of 50 pounds or more, as well as regular bending, walking, and standing for extended periods.
Qualifications
Education
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a reliable means of transportation.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience or working knowledge in the following areas is preferred, but not required:
- Theatrical and concert production
- Stage setup and management
- Professional sound and lighting equipment
- Basic electrical knowledge and related trades
- Forklifts, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts
- Hand and power tools
- Event setup for shows, meetings, banquets, exhibitions, and sporting events
Training will be provided to qualified candidates as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory or managerial responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee works in a dynamic environment that requires the employee to be sensitive to change and responsive to changing goals, priorities, and needs. Work hours will vary including split shifts, nights, weekends and some overnight work and may require long hours at times. Civic Center Technical Crew are scheduled to work on an as needed basis. Most work is done indoors, but there are some duties performed outdoors.
