Job Description
Experience
- 2 years of experience teaching in a public school system
Preferred Qualifications
- Hospital-related experience
Education
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field
Certification Summary
- Must be eligible for and obtain Georgia teaching certificate within 90 days of employment
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of classroom procedures
- Knowledge of state and federal educational laws and requirements
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of 504 plans and individualized education programs
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel
Job Responsibilities
- Provides instruction for school-age patients.
- Educates the patient and family regarding school services and supports the process of setting up appropriate services.
- Serves as a liaison between the hospital, school system, and parents.
- Provides information to the medical and support teams regarding school needs and available school services.
- Documents and maintains updated patient information in the medical record regarding services provided.
- Supervises School Program volunteers.
