Commercial Real Estate Lending Associate Attorney

A leading national law firm is seeking an experienced Commercial Real Estate Lending Associate Attorney to join its Charlotte office. This opportunity is designed for an attorney with a sophisticated lender-side real estate finance practice and meaningful experience with CMBS and/or CLO loan originations.

The attorney will represent institutional lending clients in complex commercial real estate financing transactions involving a variety of property types, including multifamily, office, retail, hospitality, and industrial assets.

Responsibilities

  • Represent institutional lenders and other sophisticated financing clients in commercial real estate loan originations
  • Draft, review, and negotiate loan agreements, notes, mortgages, guarantees, and related financing documents
  • Manage due diligence involving leases, zoning matters, organizational documents, title and survey matters, and third-party reports
  • Advise clients on transaction structures and issues affecting CMBS or CLO execution
  • Coordinate transactions from initial documentation through closing and post-closing
  • Work directly with clients, opposing counsel, and third-party professionals throughout the transaction
  • Assist with loan review and preparation for subsequent securitization

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of commercial real estate finance experience
  • Significant experience representing institutional lenders, investment banks, CMBS lenders, or similar lending clients
  • Meaningful experience with CMBS and/or CLO loan originations
  • Strong understanding of commercial real estate loan documentation and due diligence
  • Familiarity with securitization considerations and structured lending transactions
  • Strong academic credentials, legal writing skills, and attention to detail
  • Active North Carolina Bar admission or ability to obtain admission through waiver
