Full job description
Our polymer manufacturing plant in Birdsboro, PA is looking for a Miantenance Mechanic to support plant operations. Arkema in Birdsboro has around 65 employees but we are part of larger organization with over 21,000 employees worldwide. We call this the "small company feel with large company resources." Major highlights regarding employment as a Maintenance Mechanic:
Wage: $38.61/hr to start plus $.90 for 2nd shift and $1.15 for 3rd shift.
Hours: 40 hours/week with Overtime as necessary.
Environment: Union
Benefits: Insurance effective day of hire, 10 days PTO, 3 floating holidays, 4% match 401k, parental leave, annual bonus plan, double-time paid on worked holidays.

General Summation of Job Duties:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
The ability and knowledge to maintain reliability and functionality of all mechanical equipment and processes utilized in manufacturing and laboratory operations. Perform all preventative maintenance tasks as required to maintain equipment dependability. Diagnose, trouble shoot, and perform required tasks to maintain equipment operational status.
Proficiency in the following is required...
Welding, (piping, supports, and framework). Pipefitting, blueprint reading, rigging, and equipment installation. Practical experience with pumps and seals. Familiarization with valve packing and gasketing.
Analyze and repair electrical power failures within operating processes. Perform backup services for the C&I Mechanic. (Or the ability and willingness to learn all electrical requirements).
Requirements:
Possess varied mechanical skills relating to building repairs, painting, etc. Practical experience and acquired training skills of at least five (5) years in an industrial high tech atmosphere as a Mechanic or equivalent craft. Capability to follow written procedures. Communication and personal interaction skills. Comply with all technical, quality control, product, manufacturing, and safety procedures and instructions, associated with plant operations. Must have physical dexterity in climbing stairs, ladders, and handling the manual requirements of all Maintenance operations. The Mechanic is required to operate powered industrial trucks, including the high reach, scissors lift, and skid loader units.
Must exhibit safe work practices. Must be available to work overtime assignments as required.
