We are hiring Part-Time CDL Class A Drivers to support mail transportation operation in Shreveport, Louisiana. This is a great opportunity for experienced drivers looking for consistent work with a respected transportation company. Positions are temp-to-perm, and travel drivers are welcome while permanent positions are being filled.
Position Details
- Pay: $27.89/hour
- Health & Welfare: Additional $5.55/hour for the first 40 hours worked each week
- Employment Type: Part-Time, Temp-to-Perm
- Drivers Needed: 3
- Schedule: Sunday through Saturday (drivers typically work 5–6 days per week)
- Dispatch Times: Between 4:00 PM and 2:00 AM depending on route
- Average Shift: 8–10 hours
- Layovers: None – Home Daily
Job Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A tractor-trailer transporting between facilities.
- Complete scheduled, time-sensitive delivery routes.
- Roll mail carts and mail containers on and off trailers.
- Secure mail carts using straps and other required equipment.
- Back into loading docks at postal facilities.
- Operate liftgates when required.
- Complete required paperwork and maintain accurate delivery records.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Follow all DOT safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL
- Minimum 9 months of recent CDL driving experience
- Ability to perform touch freight, including moving rolling mail carts
- Comfortable with multi-stop routes and backing into docks
- Strong attention to detail and reliability for time-sensitive deliveries
- Must successfully pass a background check
- No felony convictions
- Ability to meet Ryder hiring standards, including DOT drug screening and background requirements
