Position Overview:

You will apply your strategic and operational skills as Chief of Staff to the AI and DT&A Practice Leader. This role sits at the intersection of go-to-market execution, internal AI enablement, firm governance, and operating discipline — responsible for enabling the Practice Leader to operate at their highest level while ensuring the AI & DT&A Practice runs with consistent rhythm and strategic clarity. You should be passionate about AI strategy, business operations, and the role technology plays in transforming professional services. What You’ll Do: Serve as a Trusted Partner to the Practice Leader

The central dimension of this role is serving as a fully aligned strategic partner to the Head of AI & DT&A. The Practice Leader builds — you run. Your success is measured by the Practice Leader's ability to say they cannot operate effectively without your partnership, and by the AI Lab's ability to operate with consistent, well-understood rhythm.

Practice Leader Capacity Extender

  • Drive and support strategic initiatives across the AI Lab and DT&A Practice, coordinating with the National Service Line and AI Lab team leaders.
  • Own agendas, materials, and facilitation for weekly, monthly, and quarterly leadership forums.

    • Operating Discipline

  • Own the leadership operating rhythm — meeting cadences, follow-through, and initiative accountability.
  • Translate priorities into structured plans with clear owners and timelines, ensuring execution stays aligned with firmwide strategy.

    • AI Go-to-Market Execution

  • Serve as the connective tissue between the Practice Leader, Marketing, and BD. Drive AI-specific commercial strategy, pipeline hygiene, and GTM Champion engagement across service lines.

    • AI Strategy, Investment & Governance

  • Steward the firm's AI investment. Own the governance model for use case intake, prioritization, and production deployment, and ensure AI spend is visible, well-forecasted, and tied to measurable output.

    • FP&A Partnership

  • Accelerate the maturity of the financial operating model for the AI Lab and DT&A Practice, enabling the Practice Leader to use data to drive decisions rather than backward-looking reviews.

    • Core Responsibilities:

    Business Strategy & Governance

  • Develop the AI and DT&A market strategy in partnership with the Practice Leader and Service line leaders to drive growth, profitability, and performance; hold leadership accountable for moving strategy forward

  • Design and own the Lab's AI governance model end to end — use case intake, sizing and scoring, Steer Co prioritization, and production deployment

    • Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Partner with FP&A to set annual budgets and goals, establish KPIs, review key metrics, and translate financial reporting into recommended actions

    • Lab Operations & Process Improvement

  • Own and run the Lab's operating calendar and leadership meeting rhythm, with clear owners, timelines, and follow-through

  • Identify people, process, and operational pain points across the practice, and develop strategies to improve and scale them

    • Go-to-Market & Revenue Enablement

  • Lead AI GTM Champion calls and channel management; drive pipeline hygiene and own GTM collateral libraries

  • Track and report on weekly pipeline, won work, revenue, and AI consent metrics; escalate as needed

  • Represent AI on the firm-level Strategic Pricing initiative, leading firmwide comms and the change cascade for AI pricing

    • Communications & Change Management

  • Develop and execute a communications plan for the AI DT&A Practice; partner with firmwide Communications, Marketing, and Operations to ensure alignment with firm-wide strategy and messaging across townhalls, AI videos, Field Guides, website updates, and market events

  • Work with Operations and practice leadership to execute key change management initiatives, ensuring updates cascade top-down

  • Prepare and support materials for SteerCo, Board, Partner meetings, firm townhalls, and Practice Leader calls; attend and present where appropriate

    • Leadership Relationships & Team Development

  • Build strong relationships with key business and functional leaders across the practice and the broader firm

  • May manage and develop direct reports as the team continues to grow; coach and mentor team members with a goal of developing and retaining talent at CrossCountry

    • Key Indicators of Success:

    • You have established yourself as a trusted strategic partner and proxy to the Head of AI and DT&A Practice Leader
    • Consistent, disciplined operating rhythm is maintained across the team, meetings are purposeful, decisions get made, and nothing falls through the cracks
    • Strategic initiatives are executed — not just planned
    • The team is able to spend more time on high-value work (sales, delivery, innovation) because operations run smoothly
    • You have displayed a high level of confidentiality and professional maturity

    What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in management consulting, strategy, or a chief of staff / TMO-type role
  • Deep fluency in AI — not as a developer, but as a strategist and operator who can translate between business needs and AI capabilities
  • Proven track record running complex, multi-stakeholder programs at the firm or practice level
  • High-quality professional presentation skills, including excellent writing and executive communication; comfortable presenting to boards, partners, and C-suite
  • Ability to operate independently without close supervision; proactively identifies challenges and recommends solutions
  • Strong command of priorities and deadlines; highly organized with the ability to zoom out to strategy and zoom in to execution

    CrossCountry Consulting is required to include an estimate of the compensation range for this role. The following range takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to, skills, experience, education, licenses, certifications, business needs, and internal equity. An estimate of the current range is $150,000 - $210,000 per year + annual bonus + additional benefits.
