This position is for full-time, onsite employment at the Family Dollar Chesapeake, VA Store Support Center.
We handle relocation for anyone interested outside of the Hampton Roads, VA area
The PMO Director leads the Technology shared services Project Management office (PMO), enabling Family Dollar IT and business teams to steer technology portfolio / project outcomes based on the Business and Technology objectives.
This role is responsible for Portfolio Management, Vendor Management and for partnering closely with Finance and other IT teams, and Indirect Procurement functions to enable the Governance of the department. This role must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of management both within and outside of the IT department.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning, measuring, and managing transformation projects, including tracking progress and ensuring transparency for stakeholders.
- Produce data and metrics to enable the CIO, Tech and Business Leaders to make decisions concerning business priorities, project lifecycle, spend, and resource allocation on projects.
- Inform and recommend actions regarding technology portfolio requests, progress, risks, and updates at monthly business governance meetings and quarterly with IT steering committee
- Influence technology teams to align on short- and long-term priorities
- Lead portfolio planning and budget needed for following year with technology leadership team
- Align planning outcomes with technology strategic roadmap over next 3 years and influence any changes
- Communicate at all levels of the organization on portfolio governance, and execution
- Be accountable for compliance of department related to governance processes (monthly project updates, time tracking, project lifecycle, contracting process ….)
- Be accountable for the successful management of the technology strategic roadmap
- Introduce and promote new and modern ways of working and organize work such as services oriented and agile product management
- Navigate complexity and supporting consistent transformation and change
- Work in a highly collaborative environment and creating high-performing teams
- Simplifying technology language and complexity to a broad audience
- Connecting the dots on problems, bring a key eye for details and expert problem perception
Develop partnerships with the following key stakeholders.
- Partner with other PMO leaders to further develop PMO organizational structures and facilitate transparency and effective communication.
- IT delivery leaders to ensure demand is properly vetted, approved and executed for success.
- IT steering committee, business sponsors and IT leaders for project approvals and updates
- CIO to provide updates on transformation strategy, delivery and enable the CIO office with data
- Dev and QA lead on best practices and resolving any roadblocks.
- Architecture and security teams on best practices and demand approvals
- Business and IT resources on project change management and user training
- Internal Audit to ensure project controls and SDLC processes are followed
- IT Operations for standards, project transition and process improvement opportunities
Other job duties include but not limited to:
- Coaching PMO team on best practices and methodologies
- Drive standardization on all stages of project lifecycle
- Continuously assess and re-evaluate standards, process and team structure for improvement
- Define KPIs for the organization and individual projects to drive data insights
- Develop dashboards and reports to enable IT and business with project data
- Coach teams on project methodologies (e.g., Agile) fit for the organization
- Drive quality of projects, user training and project change management
- Maintain, manage and report on project financial budgets, actuals and forecasts.
- Prepare project status reports and steering committee presentations
Position Requirements:
- Office work environment, 40+ work hours per week
- Travel as required (0-25%).
Minimum Requirements:
- 8+ years experience in areas of technology project management
- 6+ years leading technology project management teams
- Experience delivering technology transformation projects.
- Experience managing simultaneous and complex technology projects
- Strong retail experience
- Experience managing the work of external / offshore vendors
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team player with excellent collaboration skills
- High attention to detail
- Self-starter with sense of urgency
- Enjoys fast paced environments
- Ability to summarize complex information and concepts and clearly communicate up to Senior Management
- Exposure to Project Management and related KPIs as well as Organization metrics measurement and OKRs
- Strong PowerPoint, Excel skills required, including the ability to create executive summaries, visualize complex data, and communicate historical trends
- Team leadership and management.
Preferred requirements:
- Bachelors in business, computer science, MIS or other four-year related degree
- Experience with SharePoint, ServiceNow modules and PowerBI capabilities
“Projected Salary Range: $175,000 - $218,000”.
