The Oskaloosa plants include iron and brass foundries, a machine shop, assembly, finished goods warehousing, shipping and administrative offices. We are proud to continue our history of offering manufactured products that comply with “Made in the USA” requirements.


The purpose of this role is to champion and advance environmental initiatives that strengthen leadership, promote sustainability, elevate community involvement, and inspire active employee engagement.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: 

  • Sustainability: Achieve 100% compliance with all management‑assigned inspections and required environmental reporting, ensuring every submission is completed accurately and timely, as documented through internal audits and supervisory review.
  • Leadership: Complete 3 continuing education opportunities per year.
  • Employee Engagement: 100% of environmental compliance training completed for team members by established timeline.

CORE FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Record Keeping: (60%) Gathers and evaluates environmental data and updates recordkeeping through a variety of systems including Cority, SharePoint, and other internal recordkeeping systems in order to demonstrate compliance with state and federal regulations as well as to meet McWane Environmental Standards. 
  • Inspections (20%):  Participating in and completing required timely inspections and serving as a backup for the Environmental Specialist/ Sr. Specialist as needed to ensure inspections are completed based on compliance needs.
  • Sampling (10%): Assist in quarterly storm water sampling and waste sampling as required.
  • Training (10%): Takes active role in driving environmental knowledge by assisting with training needs for the environment department including new hire orientation and ongoing training requirements. Completes training to guide others in environmental compliance and standards. Participates in environmental communication initiatives leading to greater team member awareness.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Internal Process and Product Knowledge a plus
  • Basic Computer Knowledge and Understanding of Microsoft Programs required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Two-year degree preferred with some experience and knowledge of environmental compliance.
  • High School Diploma and 2-4 years of environmental, safety, wastewater or industrial compliance required.
