Registered Nurse (RN) – Correctional Nursing Opportunities in Colorado

We’re building a priority list of nurses for upcoming state facility openings across Colorado. These roles don’t open often, and when they do, they fill quickly. Nurses who are already onboarded are always first in line.

While this is not an immediate start, getting your paperwork completed now allows you to step into a contract as soon as positions are approved. The process can take time, so we’re looking for nurses who are ready to plan ahead.

Why nurses are getting in early:

• For local staff under 200 miles away from a facility is $47–$58.50/hour DOE (with shift differentials)
• Same-day pay available
• Mileage reimbursement for travel over 50 miles one way
• For all travel staff who are over 200 miles is $90-$97/ hour DOE. This will include Per diem for housing, meals, and incidentals.
• $300 referral bonus
• Opportunities across multiple facilities statewide

Potential locations include:
Delta, Rifle, Buena Vista, Canon City, Pueblo, Ordway, Limon, and Sterling

Flexible scheduling options:

• Days, swings, and nights
• 10, 12, and 13-hour shifts
• Full-time and part-time opportunities available
• PRN considered (longer onboarding timeline)

What you’ll be doing:
You’ll provide hands-on care in a secure, fast-paced environment, including med pass through live med line and cart, responding to sick calls, completing assessments, handling kites, and responding to emergencies. This is an active role where you’ll be on your feet and making a real impact every shift.
