Full job description
Position Summary
The Department of Dermatology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center invites applications for a full-time Instructor in Dermatology with a primary focus on investigator-initiated research. This non-tenured junior faculty position is designed for a board-eligible or board-certified dermatologist pursuing an academic career in dermatology with the goal of developing a nationally renowned, externally funded research program in fields relevant to cutaneous biology and skin health and disease.
In addition to the primary research activities, the Instructor will maintain an independent dermatology practice and participate in medical education through clinical supervision for outpatient clinic and inpatient dermatology consults, plus didactic lectures as appropriate. The instructor will receive individualized mentoring from Columbia Dermatology physician-scientist and research faculty for development of an independent, investigator-initiated scientific program and academic plan, including grant and manuscript review.

Responsibilities
Develop an independent, externally funded research program in basic, translational, or clinical dermatology
Collaborate across CUIMC and Columbia University to foster innovative interdisciplinary research
Maintain an independent faculty dermatology practice within ColumbiaDoctors
Precept in Dermatology outpatient resident teaching clinics and on-call inpatient consults
Participate in academic activities, including Grand Rounds, Dermatology research-in-progress meetings, and visiting lecture series as appropriate
Qualifications
MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent medical degree;
Demonstrated excellence in research and scholarship
Board eligibility or board certification in dermatology;
Eligibility for New York State medical licensure
Eligibility for appointment to the faculty of Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons
