Salary: 26.39 - 34.84 / hour DOE
Weekend Shift Differential 8%
Work Schedule: Wednesday - Sunday 8:00am - 4:30 pm

As a Clinical Laboratory Specialist in our HLA Laboratory, you’ll perform high-complexity clinical laboratory testing and provide skilled technical support to help deliver accurate, timely and high-quality results.

You’ll join a collaborative laboratory team where precision, quality and continuous improvement are essential to the work we do and the patients and healthcare partners we serve. The position is classified as CLIA high-complexity testing personnel.

What You Can Expect

Work Location: Phoenix, AZ
Schedule: Wednesday–Sunday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Scheduled Days Off: Monday & Tuesday
Hourly Pay Range: $26.39–$34.84/hour, depending on experience
Weekend Shift Differential: 8%

What You’ll Do

As a Clinical Laboratory Specialist, you’ll perform routine testing of biological specimens while providing skilled technical support and working with other team members to ensure timely, quality test results.

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare and prequalify reagents and perform routine testing of biological samples.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and quality control on laboratory equipment.
  • Identify equipment malfunctions, perform basic troubleshooting and notify appropriate personnel when needed.
  • Perform equipment calibration.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation while protecting donor, patient and employee confidentiality.
  • Monitor laboratory supplies and reagent levels to help ensure operational readiness.
  • Maintain clean equipment and work areas while adhering to established safety guidelines.
  • Assist with required competency assessments and documentation.
  • Assist with evaluations of reagents, equipment and new methods.
  • Participate in process-improvement initiatives.
  • Perform assigned responsibilities in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Meets CLIA requirements for high-complexity testing.
  • One year of HLA clinical laboratory experience.
  • Strong analytical, statistical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and execute a variable workload with multiple priorities.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively as an active member of a team.

Preferred:

  • Two years of HLA clinical laboratory experience.
  • Certified Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT).

REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree required.

CLIA requirements for high complexity testing required.

California testing requirements must be met within one year required.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

NOTE: Requirements vary based on the specific laboratory.

Immunohematology Reference Laboratory (IRL) & Histocompatibility Laboratory

None.

Cellular Therapy Laboratory (CTL)

Valid driver's license required.

Meet and maintain company driver eligibility required.

Certified Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT) preferred.

EXPERIENCE

One-year HLA clinical laboratory experience required.

Two years HLA clinical laboratory experience preferred.
