Summary of Primary Functions: The safety specialist ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, promotes a culture of safety, and reduces risk. This role involves conducting risk assessments, developing safety protocols, overseeing training programs, and performing safety audits to support a safe and productive workplace.
This role is based at the San Antonio, Texas plant.
Job Specifications or Qualifications: All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products.
Conduct routine safety inspections and audits of the manufacturing facility, including equipment, materials handling, and work areas.
Investigate workplace incidents, near-misses, and injuries to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain and update safety-related documentation, such as SDSs, training records, and inspection logs.
Identify potential safety risks associated with precast concrete processes, such as crane operations, material handling, confined spaces, and chemical exposure.
Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientations, equipment operator, and emergency response procedures.
Lead toolbox talks and participates in safety committee meetings.
Ensure first aid kits, eyewash stations, and other emergency equipment are readily available and in compliance with regulations.
Ensure compliance with OSHA 1910 General industry standards and other relevant safety regulations.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
1-3 years of experience in safety within a manufacturing environment
Ability to work independently
In depth knowledge of OSHA standards and other regulatory requirements applicable to manufacturing.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
