Senior Accountant | $90,000–$115,000 + Bonus Potential
Our client is a well-established, growing firm seeking a Senior Accountant to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting and tax professional who is looking for greater responsibility, increased client interaction, and a long-term career path within a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.
The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of public accounting experience, with a strong background in tax and accounting. A CPA or active progress toward CPA certification is required.
This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of client relationships, work closely with business owners and management teams, mentor junior staff, and play an important role in the continued growth of the firm. For the right individual, there is potential for advancement into a future leadership and ownership role.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare individual and business tax returns, including tax planning, analysis, and projections.
* Manage client relationships and serve as a primary point of contact for accounting and tax-related matters.
* Communicate with clients to gather financial information and ensure timely completion of accounting and tax engagements.
* Research federal and state tax issues and assist with tax notices and agency correspondence.
* Perform tax research and provide guidance on complex tax and accounting matters.
* Review and analyze financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements.
* Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed asset schedules, and general ledger activity.
* Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes for assigned clients.
* Identify discrepancies and recommend improvements to accounting processes and internal controls.
* Assist clients with accounting and financial infrastructure, including the development and improvement of internal controls.
* Identify opportunities to improve clients' financial operations and support business growth.
* Provide guidance and technical support to junior accounting and tax staff.
* Review work and prepare accurate tax returns with minimal supervision.
* Assist with audit and internal control engagements as needed.
*Perform complex financial analysis and communicate findings and recommendations to clients and firm leadership.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; MBA is a plus.
* 3–5 years of public accounting experience with a strong background in tax and accounting.
* CPA certification or actively pursuing CPA credentials required.
* Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting.
* Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
* Experience with tax preparation software is a plus.
* Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, deadlines, and projects effectively.
* Comfortable working independently while also collaborating with a team.
* Ability to handle complex accounting and tax matters with sound judgment and attention to detail.
