Job Responsibilities:

Location: Liberty, MO

Magna is seeking a Material Handling Area Leader to lead shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material handling operations within a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for optimizing material flow, supporting production requirements, leading logistics team members, and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.

What You'll Do

  • Lead shipping, receiving, material handling, and inventory control operations
  • Manage material flow throughout the plant to ensure uninterrupted production and customer delivery performance
  • Develop and maintain Value Stream Maps (VSM) to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Monitor and optimize Kanban systems, inventory levels, and material replenishment processes
  • Coordinate closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to support manufacturing requirements
  • Manage warehousing, plant layouts, material flow analysis, and equipment utilization
  • Support WMS, ERP, and Kanban system functionality and data accuracy
  • Oversee mobile equipment operations, including forklifts, tuggers, and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs)
  • Analyze AMR performance, troubleshoot operational issues, and recommend improvements to material delivery routes
  • Lead annual inventory activities, cycle counts, engineering change implementation, and logistics improvement projects
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Material Handlers, Cycle Counters, and Logistics Clerks
  • Participate in recruiting, workforce planning, employee development, and performance management activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 6 years of related logistics, supply chain, material handling, or manufacturing experience required
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Inventory Management, Kanban, Just-in-Time (JIT), and logistics operations in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and material flow optimization
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage and interpret large amounts of operational data
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives involving FIFO, PFEP, Kanban, pull systems, and Kaizen activities
  • Knowledge of ERP, WMS, RFID systems, and inventory management processes
  • APICS certification preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple responsibilities, and work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
