The Team You'll Work With

You'll be joining our Inbound Compliance team.

This team sits at the front line of Carta's compliance function, managing the intake and resolution of KYC requests on behalf of some of the world's leading asset managers and private equity firms. You'll work in a high-volume, client-facing environment where accuracy, speed, and regulatory fluency aren't optional. They're the baseline. In this role, you'll exercise independent judgment on routine matters and mentor junior analysts as they develop their expertise

The Problems You'll Solve

At Carta, our employees set out on a mission to unlock the power of equity ownership for more people in more places. We believe that the problems we solve today unlock the opportunities of tomorrow. As a Senior KYC Analyst in Inbound Compliance, you'll work to:

  • Own complex KYC engagements end to end. Take ownership of sophisticated inbound requests, manage the full lifecycle from intake through delivery, and act as the trusted point of contact for counterparties and investors navigating multi-jurisdictional compliance
  • Guide the team's standards. Lead by example in accuracy and regulatory rigor, contribute to evolving the team's processes and documentation standards, and help junior analysts develop their judgment on complex entity structures and regulatory requirements
  • Uphold the regulatory bar across multiple jurisdictions. Review and validate KYC documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with AML, KYC, and applicable international frameworks across EU, UK, and US regulatory regimes, and make the call when something doesn't pass muster
  • Keep records airtight and decisions sound. Maintain accurate, up to date records of all KYC requests and documentation in Carta's systems, resolve issues independently where appropriate, and know when to escalate matters to senior leadership
  • Stay ahead of a moving target. Monitor evolving KYC/AML regulations globally and apply updated requirements to daily work, ensuring Carta's compliance posture keeps pace with regulatory change and sharing insights with the broader team

About You

  • Detail-oriented and strategically minded. You catch what others miss and you do it consistently, even when managing a high volume of concurrent requests against tight deadlines. You also think beyond the immediate task to consider process improvements and team capacity
  • Confident and client-ready. You hold your own in KYC conversations with senior stakeholders and counterparties, assertive and professional, knowing when to escalate versus when to resolve, and able to build trust with clients under pressure.
  • 4+ of hands-on AML/KYC experience. You have a deep working understanding of global KYC and AML frameworks and can apply them practically to complex scenarios. You've reviewed entity structures, managed KYC refreshes, and fulfilled due diligence requests across different regulatory regimes. AML/KYC certifications (ICA, ACAMS) are strongly encouraged
  • A mentor and builder. You're comfortable supporting junior analysts, explaining your reasoning, and helping others develop their judgment. You also take initiative to improve processes and contribute to team know-how
  • Proactive and autonomous. You don't wait to be told what to do. You assess complex situations, apply the right framework, and move forward with minimal supervision. You escalate strategically, not reflexively
  • Experienced in complex legal entities. You have solid exposure to corporate banking, legal services, or fund compliance environments and are particularly comfortable with offshore jurisdictions like Cayman and Luxembourg
  • A communicator people trust. You write clearly, speak with confidence, and bring the same professionalism to client-facing correspondence as you do to internal work and team collaboration
  • Ability to multitask. You handle multiple competing priorities simultaneously without dropping the ball and you stay composed under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Building a compliance career. You have a genuine commitment to professional development in AML/CFT compliance and legal services, with an appetite to take on increasing responsibility over time

Preferred but not required

  • Hands-on experience with AI in practice. You've worked with AI tools or technology-driven workflows in a compliance or legal context and know how to leverage them to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Prior experience in financial or legal services. A background at a law firm, legal services provider, fund administrator, or the compliance or legal department of a financial institution or asset manager.
  • Familiarity with KYC documentation and AML instruments. Experience reviewing or preparing KYC documentation packs, AML comfort letters, or UBO declarations.
  • Knowledge of private markets structures. Familiarity with fund formations, GP/LP relationships, and offshore holding structures
  • Regulatory framework expertise. Prior exposure to US (FinCEN) AML/CFT regulatory frameworks

At Carta, you're not just an employee. You're a builder who is creating infrastructure that accelerates innovation and empowers more ownership. Cartans are helpful, relentless, unconventional and kind; representing Carta's Identity Traits. They work collaboratively and cross functionally to challenge the status quo; working towards a common goal of creating more owners in the private markets.
