About the Role

Appen's Strategic Project Management team is central to the company's growth strategy, partnering with leading AI companies, frontier model developers, and healthcare technology organizations to deliver the data that makes models work. As Strategic Project Lead, Healthcare, you will lead complex medical AI data programs from solution design through delivery, bridging customer objectives, clinical expertise, and Appen's global delivery capability. This is a hands-on role with visibility across both the customer relationship and the delivery model behind it.

Your Impact

You'll own the quality and direction of complex healthcare AI programs, translating customer objectives into medical data strategies. Your expertise will establish the standards for how data is designed, evaluated, and delivered.

Across Appen's global delivery organization, you'll turn those standards into repeatable approaches, methodologies, and capabilities that support future healthcare AI programs and customer opportunities.

Success in this role will create healthcare projects that meet customer and clinical standards, strong customer outcomes, and a growing healthcare data capability that Appen can apply across its portfolio.

What You Bring

  • 2+ years in clinical practice, healthcare, medical research, or life sciences, with a track record of leading complex projects or multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong stakeholder-management skills with the ability to translate ambiguous requirements into clear specifications.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, global environment where priorities and AI capabilities evolve quickly.

  • Nice to Have

  • Experience managing clinicians, researchers, or other specialist professional communities.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data privacy, security, and responsible AI governance.
  • Experience developing or reviewing medical datasets, annotation guidelines, clinical taxonomies, or evaluation criteria.
  • Exposure to AI companies, frontier AI labs, or healthcare technology organizations.

  • Why You'll Love Working Here

At Appen, we foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. We value curiosity, accountability, and a commitment to delivering the highest quality AI solutions for frontier models.

You'll work on complex challenges that shape the future of AI across industries and geographies, alongside talented people in a culture that values humility over ego. You'll have the flexibility to deliver in a way that works for you and your team, supported by tools, resources, and development opportunities to continue to build your capability over time.
