Pain Management Specialist (Anesthesiology or PM&R Pain Management)
Murfreesboro VA | Tennessee Valley Healthcare System

Salary: $330,000-$370,000 per year
Schedule: Monday-Friday (hours based on service needs)

Key Duties Include:

  • Apply advanced knowledge of pathophysiology, neurochemical, and psychological aspects of pain management.

  • Evaluate Veterans with chronic pain, including targeted history and physical examination, and interpretation of radiological studies.

  • Proficiently perform diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures, such as:

    • Radiofrequency techniques

    • Spinal cord stimulator implantation

    • Caudal and epidural blocks

    • Lumbar sympathetic blocks

    • Upper and lower plexus blocks

  • Manage spinal opioids and implant intrathecal pumps for chronic pain control.

  • Communicate effectively (oral and written) with interdisciplinary professional staff and management.

  • Provide educational support to Pain Clinic staff, Primary Care Providers, and other physicians regarding pain management.

  • Assist with Pain Clinic schedules and the development of clinic policies and standard operating procedures.


Qualifications:

  • Completion of an Anesthesiology or Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) residency

  • Completion of a fellowship in Pain Management

  • Board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology or the American Board of PM&R
