Summary:

The RN Staff Nurse is responsible for delivering competent, individualized nursing care to patients and families by utilizing the nursing process to augment the established medical plan of treatment. Operating with a strong team orientation, this nurse integrates sound clinical judgment and evidence-based decision-making to address the unique needs of each patient. The role emphasizes exceptional customer relations and professional communication, ensuring that care is delivered with both clinical precision and a high level of service excellence. By maintaining a focus on safety and collaborative practice, the RN Staff Nurse serves as a vital advocate for the patient while contributing to the overall effectiveness of the healthcare team.

Shift: 7a - 7p

Cook Children's Transitional Care Unit (TCU) and Rehab Care Unit (RCU) cares for infants, children, and teens that have a history of respiratory, neurological and other illnesses that require special care. Common diagnoses include prematurity, congenital disorders, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, acquired brain injury, brain tumor, encephalitis, stroke, spinal cord injury, and neuromuscular disease. Our multidisciplinary team provides complete medical care while educating the family in skills needed to safely care for their child’s complex medical needs at home.

Education/Experience

• 1 year of direct nursing experience required.

• Associate's in Nursing.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification

• Active, unrestricted TX Registered Nurse (RN) license.

• BLS - American Heart Association.

Post hire Requirements:

• PALS or NRP and specialty certifications per unit guidelines.
