Exciting Opportunity at MSK: The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking a Cytology Prep Lab Technician for the Cytology Lab.
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center consists of disease-specific pathologists, molecular diagnosticians, clinical laboratory testing experts, educators, and researchers with expertise and focus on cancers affecting both adult and pediatric patients. Our faculty collaborate with oncologists and surgeons to customize each patient’s treatment based on an individual diagnosis and are actively involved in developing new diagnostic tests to improve diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of cancer patients.
Role Overview:
- Prepare and process routine non-gynecologic and gynecologic specimens using established procedures outlined in the Standard Operating Procedure Manual.
- Prepare and process specimens from fine needle aspirations and touch prep procedures on a stat basis.
- Prepare and process cell blocks from residual cytologic material.
- Perform and document quality control activities per department guidelines as scheduled by laboratory supervisor.
- Prepare neat, accurate records; record data on logs and input required data into computer system.
- Perform preventive maintenance activities as scheduled
- Record receive date, expiration date and open date of reagent.
- Track inventory of supplies, stocks bench as needed, maintains chemical storage room.
- Opens monthly standing orders and records items in the inventory logbook.
- Contributes to the upkeep and safety of the laboratory and assures a clean, safe, adequately supplied work area.
Key Qualifications:
- NYS Dept of Education Clinical Lab Technician License or NYS Dept of Education Clinical Lab Technologist License or NYS Dept of Education Certified Histological Technician License or Pathologist Assistant License
- Associate degree / Certified Vocational Training OR Grand-parented per NYS Requirements

- Schedule: Monday - Friday, 10 am - 6 pm
- Reporting to: Assistant Manager, Cytology Lab
Pay Range: $39.13 - $60.67
FSLA Status: Non-Exempt
